Shipping |
The Shipping discount is Inclusive and will be applied to the entire order; please note, Shipping discounts cannot have Supplemental discounts attached to them, nor can a Shipping Discount be a Supplemental discount |
Coupon codes: (also called redemption or promo codes) |
Used online only and are not valid in the POS. In The discount Engine, if a coupon has a code added, this discount will be unavailable in the POS. To run both in tandem, simply set up two discounts using the copy tool, so each will trigger correctly, depending on the origin of the order being created |
Supplemental Discount Types
Supplemental Discounts are attached to a Primary Discount. They adhere to the criteria rules of the primary but can be made more restrictive. Likewise the Validity of the Supplemental Discount adheres to that of the primary but can be more restrictive (e.g. a supplemental 5% off discount that is only good for one weekend)

Discount "Best Practices"
- Be sure to test your discounts.
- Include non-discounted items.
- Try more or less than the max/min amounts.
- Use the discount in web and/or POS orders.
- Try to make it NOT work the way you want it to.
- Use a Public Name.
- If a Public Name is not present the name of the applied discount(s) don't appear in the web site cart editor summary, nor the side cart.
- Discount Name, not Public Name, is identified in POS and web orders. This is especially helpful during testing.
- Disable discounts that are not is use.
- Minimizing the number of ACTIVE discounts is important as the system has to weigh each active discount when engaging the engine.
- Disable discounts even if end dates are in place.
- Discounts can be saved and re-enabled/recycled at a later date or deleted.
- A discount can be deleted only if it is disabled.
- Proceed with caution when deleting. Deleted discounts cannot be recovered.
